Before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, there was only one active weather station in the current Golestan province, which was operating in Gorgan city and under non-standard conditions (Gorgan synoptic weather station at the address of the former palace square – Ziyadalo alley and in a rented place ) After the glorious victory of the Islamic revolution, first of all, the conditions of transferring the station to a standard place were put on the agenda, which due to the agricultural nature of the area, this transfer was carried out in 1362 and the station was moved from its former location to the 4th kilometer of Hashimabad village, and in fully compliant conditions. It continues its activity with WMO (World Meteorological Organization) standard. After that, according to the national needs and international obligations, various weather stations are established in the near and far places of the province, and now in Golestan province there are more than 100 stations of different types (airport synoptic – marine synoptic – supplementary synoptic – upper atmosphere – Agricultural research – climatology – rain gauge and automatic…) have been established and are operating. After the separation from Mazandaran and the formation of Golestan Province, the Meteorological Department of Golestan Province was established and started working at Hashimabad station. Besides, after a few years, the building of the Applied Meteorological Research Center of the province was built and put into operation in 2006, and the organization of the General Administration moved to the new location.
